It’s only half-way through the year and we’ve already had an amazing 2012! 

We’ve partnered with a number of great organizations to help spread the word about our custom golf grips, but we’re not done yet. Our most recent partnership is another perfect match. As the official golf grip for all 10 of the Oakley Pro/Am series tournaments this year, we couldn’t be more excited. 

Although many of you have probably seen pictures on our facebook page from the events we’ve been to so far, we have some additional fun that we’ve been holding out on until now:

Oakley’s original concept for the Oakley Pro/Am was to give back to the club pros, account holders, assistants, and other friends of the company.  The concept was simple—“Big Time Fun.” But since Oakley pulled out all of the stops to make each event an unforgettable experience, “big time fun” might have been a bit of an understatement.  

We started our partnership in April at the Carolina Classic at the Little River Golf Resort.  Expecting a traditional Pro/Am was a mistake.  After attending the Oakley pre-tournament party with a performance by Kelly James, we quickly figured out that this was going to be a little different than any Pro/Am we had ever seen.  This was a perfect way to set the scene for the Pro/Am the next day.  

Oakley’s concept of “Big Time Fun” started with them renting out the entire course and turning it into their headquarters for the day.  The Oakley staff set up an Oakley retail store where all of the Pro/Am participants got geared up from head to toe with amazing Oakley gear.  Itching to get in on all the fun, we set up on the range and installed our unique colored golf grips with the Oakley logo for any participants interested.  

This is about the time that the music started and the party began!  After the players teed off, we moved to a tee box and installed personalized golf grips for the players as they came through.  This was a perfect way for us to show off our tapeless installation and immediate playability!  Really, who else can help you find the correct golf grip size and re-grip on the tee box while you wait to play?

But what’s the fun of a Pro/Am without Prizes?  For the serious players, there was cash and lots of prizes to win.  The top ten places took home Oakley wallets loaded with cash.  The amateur players competed for products by Oakley and other industry partners.  Many of the Oakley Pro/Am events feature celebrity guests, and this one was no exception.  At the Carolina Classic, Gary Sheffield and Goose Gossage headlined the field. 

So far we’ve been to three events so far: The Carolina Classic, The Texas Throw Down at The Dallas Athletic Club and The Tri-State Challenge held at TPC Jasna Polana.  Here is a link to check out some photos from these events http://www.facebook.com/oakleyproam/photos.

Being partners with the Oakley Pro/Am series has its perks, and we were able to see them first hand.  Through Oakley, we were invited to be part of Ryan Sheckler’s 5^th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament.  With the event at Trump National just days before the X Games, it was the perfect scene for the stars to come out.  We were able to set up on Hole 2 and be a part of the Oakley experience by installing grips for a few names you might have heard before: Ryan Sheckler, Matt Leinart, Sal Masekela, Andy Bell and Josh Duhamel, to name a few.  We ended the day with tons of great feedback and a burning desire to do it again next year.  

With 10 Oakley Pro/Am events every year and several other events that we are a part of, there’s a good chance that there’s one in your area.  If “Big Time Fun” seems like your style, we look forward to seeing you at one soon.
