Aloha PURE grippers,
Nothing feels better than bringing like-minded individuals and companies together to support each other and have a great time doing it. As a part of the amazing Oakley Hackfest in Hawaii with our partners at Miura Golf, we got a chance to experience that feeling first hand. We’ve gotten a chance to participate in other Oakley events, so we knew this one would be amazing in every way.
First some background. Hackfest is a unique Oakley Pro Am that takes place over two days and makes use of both Turtle Bay golf courses. The first day is the Pro tournament with an afterparty for everyone to enjoy. The following day is the Pro Am portion, with 350 golfers having fun and competing for almost $40,000 worth of prizes. We told you it was amazing!
It’s tough to add value when you’re participating in such a well run event, but I think we really helped make it even more special. This being their first chance to experience an Oakley Pro Am event, our friends at Miura Golf really wanted to make a great impression - and impress they did. As a thank you to Oakley, Miura donated five custom wedges with a unique Oakley logo on each one of them. Check out the picture below to see how incredible they turned out.
But we weren’t just there to plug our products, we had some golf to play! With a foursome made up of two Vice Presidents of Miura Golf and two Founders of PURE grips, we were ready to introduce ourself to the Oakley crew. With a 15 under, we think we shot pretty well. But with such a tough field to compete with, we came home from the tournament empty handed. In a stroke of luck, though, Bill won a brand new car stereo in the raffle, which he then proceeded to donate back. Oh well.
All in all, it was pretty apparent that the Miura boys fit in great with the Oakley crew. We’ve worked hard to create our partnerships with Miura Golf and Oakley and it’s always great to see two of our partners hit it off so well.
I guess good people (and companies) just attract each other.
Happy Golfing!
